Air France serves free meals in all cabins on long-haul flights. Short-haul economy gets a biscuit and drink. Special meals need 24h notice.
On long-haul flights, Air France feeds everyone in economy at no extra cost: a starter, choice of hot main, bread, cheese, and dessert. On short European hops, you get a biscuit and a drink, full stop.

Long-haul economy
Every intercontinental Air France flight in economy includes a full meal with a starter, your choice of two hot mains (typically one meat and one vegetarian), bread, a cheese course, and dessert. On flights over roughly 8 hours you also get a second snack service and access to a self-serve buffet mid-flight (water, juice, biscuits). Drinks, including wine, beer, and soft drinks, are free throughout.
Air France sources 100 pct of its meat, dairy, and eggs from French producers when departing Paris Charles de Gaulle.
Short and medium-haul economy
On European routes under about 2.5 hours, economy passengers receive one biscuit (sweet or savoury depending on the time of day) plus a free hot drink, juice, or soft drink. No full meal.
On routes over 2.5 hours (for example, Paris to Cairo or Casablanca), you get a fresh sandwich and a drink.
Buy on Board trial (from January 2025): Air France began testing paid meals on two routes, Paris CDG to Helsinki and Paris CDG to Lisbon. On these flights, economy passengers can purchase additional food and drinks by card (no cash accepted). The free biscuit and drink remain complimentary.
Business class and La Première
Business class passengers receive a gourmet snack box on short-haul flights and a full chef-designed multi-course meal on medium and long-haul routes. La Première (first class) on long-haul flights adds tableside service, a cheese trolley, a full dessert cart with pastries and petit fours, and complimentary champagne in all classes on long-haul routes.

When meals are served
Service follows local meal times at departure:
- Breakfast: departures between 6:00 and 10:00
- Lunch: departures between 11:30 and 14:00
- Dinner: departures between 17:00 and 20:00
Outside those windows, you get a lighter snack service rather than a full meal tray.
Special and dietary meals
Air France offers a full range of special meals on all long-haul flights and on medium-haul Business class flights. You must request them at least 24 hours before departure (48 hours for kosher).
Key codes to know when booking:
- VGML (vegan): entirely plant-based, starter, main, and dessert
- VLML (vegetarian lacto-ovo): may contain eggs and dairy
- AVML (Asian vegetarian): rice or noodle-based with vegetables and mild dairy
- GFML (gluten-free): no wheat, rye, barley, or oats
- MOML (halal): certified halal meat
- KSML (kosher): sealed, rabbi-certified; 48-hour advance notice required
- DBML (diabetic): low sugar, complex carbs
- ALML (allergen-free): free from common allergens on request
All special meals are free when booked directly with Air France. To order, go to "Manage My Booking" on airfrance.com after purchasing your ticket and select your meal preference.

Order your special meal right after booking
Do not wait until check-in. The 24-hour cutoff is strict, and popular options (especially KSML and VGML) can sell out. Open "Manage My Booking" on airfrance.com immediately after you book and set your meal preference there. If you miss the window, ask the crew on board — they sometimes carry extras, but it is not guaranteed.
Drinks
Free drinks are available throughout every flight in every cabin: still and sparkling water, orange juice, coffee, tea, and Coke-family sodas. On long-haul flights, French wine (red and white), beer, and spirits are complimentary in all cabins. Business and La Première passengers receive champagne from departure.
